Macadamia Crusted Tuna with Sesame Garlic Asparagus

Macadamia Crusted Tuna with Sesame Garlic Asparagus


  • 2-6 ounce sashimi grade tuna filets
  • 1 1/2 cups raw macadamia nuts
  • 1 jalapeño
  • small handful of cilantro leaves
  • soy sauce (fermented, gluten free)
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut oil


  1. Crush the macadamias in a blender or food processor until fluffy
  2. Slice the tuna into 12 equal pieces
  3. Slice the jalapeño into 12 slices, remove seeds
  4. Roughly chop the cilantro
  5. Heat the coconut oil over low to medium heat in a large skillet or frying pan
  6. Pat the ground macadamia nuts onto the top and bottom of the tuna
  7. Gently place the tuna in the pan with one of the covered sides down
  8. Cook on low heat for 3-5 minutes until nuts are toasted but the tuna doesn’t start to cook
  9. Gently turn the tuna over and toast the nuts on the other side. The tuna will be slightly warmed through but not cooked.
  10. Top each slice with a drizzle of soy sauce (go easy, the nuts absorb it), some cilantro, and a slice of jalapeño
